Introduction :

Yoga is fast becoming one of the most sought after exercise and traning methods. It is an adjunctive therapy for an  number of health related disorder and the base to relive many respiratory, stress and health related disorder.

What is yoga?

Yoga means ‘Union’. Yoga is derived from Sanskrit word ‘Yog’ which means to join or to add’. It is a compete science of life which originated in India more than 5000 years ago. It is the oldest system of complete development of the body, mind and soul of an individual.

Yoga is a system of physical, breathing and mental training for physical fitness and personal development. It is based on ancient and sound physiological principals. The asanas or physical posture are exercise for the physical body. The yog breathing exercises known as Pranayama revitalizes the body, clams the mind, reduces stress and improve respiration. Meditation  or Dhyana and Samdhi are ways of exercise for the body, mind and soul. Many people are attracted to relieve themselves from some specific problem like migrane, acidity, back pain, diabetes, stress, addiction, high blood pressure etc. Yoga has the power to cure any disease in the world. To feel the benefits of Yoga, you need to have at least three things in you.

  1. Faith in God,
  2. Faith in Yoga and
  3. Faith in yourself.

Yoga deals with universal truths in life and its teaching are as valid TODAY as they were in Ancient Times.

It should be noted, however, that although yoga developed alongside Hindusim, it has never been considered a religious practice. It can therefore be practiced with complete confidence by anyone, regardless of his or her beliefs.

 

Benefits:
Physical benefits of regular practice of Yoga include:

  1. Improved efficiency and elasticity of the lungs.
  2. Strengthens the heart thereby reducing chances of cardiovascular disorders.
  3. Improves the functioning of kidneys and lever.
  4. Reduces oxygen requirement for muscles thereby reducing fatigue.
  5. Improves respiration, increases efficiency of muscles and removes difficulties, such as shortness of breath, hyperventilation (over-breathing).
  6. Improves flexibility and provides better motion of joints, thereby improving posture.
  7. Reduces likelihood of being overweight.

 

Psychological benefits of regular practice if yoga include:

  1. Improved concentration and helps built sharp memory.
  2. Increased self-confidence.
  3. Greater Self – esteem and an enhanced sense of well being.
  4. Increases ability to relax more easily.
  5. better quality sleep with the help of Yog Nidra.
  6. Reduced chances of anxiety panic and depression.
  7. No cravings for tobacoo, alcohol and other drugs.
