Ayurveda
Do’s (Pathya)
- Consume sattvic and tridoshahara Ashara (light and vegetarian diet) such as Br;ey, Mung (green gram), Patola (Trichisanthes diocd), Amla(Emblicaofficinalis), fruits, etc.
- Maintain normal weight, blood pressure and blood sugar.
- Ayurvedic herbs like Arjuna (Terminalia arjuna), Pushkaramula (Inula racemosa), Guggulu (Commiphora wightii), Garlic (Allium sativvum) and other compound herbo – mineral preparations are recommended on the advise of an Ayurvedic physican.
- Take to light exercise, walking, yoga and meditation.
- Positive thinking should be encouraged.
Don’ts (Apathya)
- Avoid strenuous activity (mainly after meals).
- Shun oily, spicy , and heavy meals.
- Irregular sleeping time, worries, stress and other emotional disturbances add to strain.
- Excess tea, coffee, alcohol, smoking etc. are injurious to health.
Yogic and Naturopathic Treatment
- Fasting once a week in non-diabetic cases is recommended.
- Natural high fibre, low calorie diet should be adopted.
- Sprots, salads and juices must be consumed regularly.
- Low salt diet is beneficial.
- Regular walking and mild exercises are must.
- Pranayama, Yogic relaation(Yoga Nidra) and meditaion help in controlling the condion.
- Cold spinal bath, hot-foot immersion, mud packs, cold chest pack and gentle massage are helpful.
- Ardh – matsyendrasana is considered to be the main Asana for diabetics.
- Bhastrika and Suryabhedi Pranyama and Agnisara Kriya gives benefit.
